We are seeking a Woodlands Planning Forester to join our Woodlands Department. Based out of Gorman Bros. Lumber in West Kelowna, this position will include work and travel to all of Gorman Group’s Woodlands divisions, including Downie Timber (Revelstoke) and Canoe Forest Products (near Salmon Arm). SALARY RANGE: $82,000 to $110,000 per year dependent on education, FPBC registration status, and experience.
KEY ROLES:
Reporting to the Planning Manager, and taking direction from the Planning Lead, the Woodlands Planning Forester duties include:
- Preparation of cutting permit appraisals and post-harvest appraisal reconciliation.
- Field and office work related to cutting permits and road development.
- Site plan preparation.
- Working with first nations, government, contractors, and consultants.
- Road inspections.
- Forest data management (Pheonix, ArcGIS, Forest OPS).
- Environmental Management System training and inspections.
- Being part of a positive and inclusive work culture, pursuing professional growth, and supporting team members.
- Other duties as required within Gorman Group Woodlands.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in Forestry, Environmental Science, or similar.
- Registered with the Forest Professionals of BC as an RPF, FIT, ASFIT.
- Minimum five years of experience in a related role in the forestry or other natural resource-based sector.
- Valid driver’s license.
